Let the healing begin

For those in Japan and New Zealand affected by Disaster as well as Queenslanders in Yasi and Flooding

It’s a time to offer prayers whatever your spiritual background or inclination.  Some things are so much bigger than us all.  We can’t always predict what will happen, but there will be a lot of people in need for healing.

We really don’t know what each day will bring.  Sometimes it’s laughter, and something like a bird sounding like my youngest, by his big brother’s ears.   Youngest is always doing sound effects and thinking aloud.  Sometimes this annoys his much older brother.  This time however the culprit was the BIRD.

Then there are days like when cyclones, tsuanamis, floods, earthquakes hit.  A lot of us have now been through natural disasters.  We share a common bond we would never have chosen.  We know the heartache of loss of our surroundings, and the long period of resettling, and healing that will now take place. Some of us sadly know the loss of family, pets and others through deaths in natural disasters.

Yet, again I think it’s how we respond that makes us reach great heights as human beings.  We can curl up in a corner, give up or worse still take advantage of others, or we can draw on the power of virtues to be like ‘angels in the world.’  Prayers that have practical feet, that lead to as one person said to me in Tully the other day, the true expression of religion (theirs happened to be Christianity) to show real care for others.

I beseech Thee, by these most beauteous names, by these most noble and sublime attributes, and by Thy most Exalted Remembrance, and by Thy pure and spotless Beauty, and by Thy hidden Light in the most hidden pavilion, and by Thy Name, cloaked with the garment of affliction every morn and eve, to protect the bearer of this blessed Tablet, and whoso reciteth it, and whoso cometh upon it, and whoso passeth around the house wherein it is.

Heal Thou, then, by it every sick, diseased and poor one, from every tribulation and distress, from every loathsome affliction and sorrow, and guide Thou by it whosoever desireth to enter upon the paths of Thy guidance, and the ways of Thy forgiveness and grace.

Thou art verily the Powerful, the All-Sufficing, the Healing, the Protector, the Giving, the Compassionate, the All-Generous, the All-Merciful.

Peace be with you all, travel well.   Thanks everyone too who has offered prayers for my family and community, we do feel their positive vibrations.

  1. Such a beautiful prayer. There are so many in the world suffering through one natural disaster after another. And let us not forget those whose health is failing, those who are homeless, and those who are victims of violent crime. Your prayer is oh so timely.
