I have been chasing my close-up entry for ABC Open – this might be it. I went looking for butterflies and found them, but also found this dear little creature.
I am trying to work out if it’s a dragonfly or damselfly? It is small like a damsel, but I can’t quite see where those eyes are. Yet the wings seem to make it more a dragonfly. I went to visit Dragonfly Woman. She has handy information for the difference between dragonflies and damselflies – but it seems easiest when they are side by side.
So I went to Loving Nature hoping someone there would find an answer and get back to me. In the meantime What do you think?
My second blog for the challenge is due soon, and I think I need to have butterflies in the story – maybe the bird will see them – on a walk with someone. We’ll see. I wonder what the story will be about?
Turns out the storm yesterday was a cyclone called Jasmine, which is now heading for Fiji. It’s caused a little bit of a mess – but it’s good to know it’s on its way and I do hope it blows itself out.

Be it dragonfly or damselfly, what a delicate, gorgeous creature it is. I think it has to be a she. 🙂
Great picture.

It’s a dragonfly! You can tell because the wings are held out to the side while it’s perched. Damselflies hold them together up over their backs.
