Started a Poem

Splish splash of water
from a tap of a farm yard deserted
A hawk, rats and barnyard cat
still linger
in the hope of all that once was there

June Perkins (extract from poem)

Every Monday I go online to do a writing sprint.  I write at other times, but the special thing about the sprint is that writing buddies from around Australia and the world log on and try to write at the same time.  It seems to give us all a creative pick up to start the week.  Yesterday I worked on the above. There were several other verses but I am saving them for a competition or new book.

These words may be reworked but I like the way the overall piece is developing.  Although I love writing in many other forms  I will always enjoy poetry.

I took some photos as my hubby drove the car.  I have lately started taking a bit of video too.  It’s mesmerising watching the cane flow past as the sun sets on it.

Photography inspires poetry in me as well.  It keeps me thinking about the visual details of the landscape, and each image conjures a memory.

What’s your favourite  writing form and why?
