Weaving Sunset – June Perkins

Wishing
for sunset
to weave me
into memory
of her triumphant story

Never
forgetting
songs of sore fingers
waiting for mercy’s respite

She
is sunset’s daughter
sunrise’s sister
weaving freedom’s future
