Nura, June, Robert, Hope,  Nasim, Jackson and absent Raji

Wonderful to work with this team (with one facilitator absent) to mentor young poets from Equador,  El Salvador, Argentina, Parugay, Argentina, Colombia, USA, Canada, Spain, UK, Bahrian,Tanzania, Cambodia, Kenya, Zambia, Beijing and Israel.

My heart soars with the hopeful message, diversity, questioning, open hearts of the young poets we listened to.

Poets Arising

For Young Writers

2pm in my afternoon

late evening, early morning in theirs

young poets gathering

screen by screen

microphone by microphone

heart by heart.

They share their

thoughts and dreams

with facilitators who listen

beat by beat

metaphor by metaphor

rhyme by rhyme.

Witness words

discourse words

meditating syllables

voice by voice

asking, nurturing, empowering.

Making us laugh

feel the warmth of a summer’s day

walk in gardens with hidden meanings

listen and see all the creatures of the ocean.

Blessed, grateful, imploring

poets writing, speaking, thinking . . .

Each phrase unique

yet, emotions universal.

Each current experience reconnecting

world’s disconnection.

Symphonic souls

note by note

post by post

embracing the world

celebrating the world

loving to be heard

through zoom portals.

Arising to the call of poetry

drawing on the love of

Hafiz, Tahirih

Baha’u’llah

becoming like these heroes

poetry portals

composing

words immortal.
